Course: Practical Application of the FASD Screening and Brief Intervention
Intended Audience: Certifying WIC Health Professionals

Course Description

This on-line course and work-site assignments consists of 6 modules designed to provide the new WIC certifying Health Professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively implement the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders(FASD) Screening and Brief Intervention (SBI). This training will provide WIC CHP’s with background information about the origins of the project,how to incorporate screening and brief intervention techniques into their counseling of pregnant women, demonstration of methods to engage prenatal women comfortably in discussion and intervention surrounding prenatal alcohol use as well as when and where to refer pregnant women to community resources to help them abstain from alcohol use if necessary.
