Strategies for Coalition Development

During this two-day training, participants will learn strategies for developing a community coalition to prevent substance abuse. Participants will learn how to assess community readiness and capacity by interviewing key stakeholders from critical sectors, including schools, other youth-serving organizations and law enforcement. Participants will begin to develop a plan to recruit coalition members. Indicators of effective coalitions will be discussed and tools and tips for strengthening the coalition structure will be provided.
Who should attend: Sub-grant B providers who are starting new coalitions are required to attend and those that are enhancing coalitions are strongly encouraged. Other providers, coalitions and coalition members are welcome!
