Alcohol use and alcohol-related behavior has an impact on suicide risk. Substance abuse prevention should be a key element of any suicide prevention effort. This webinar will review the research linking alcohol use to suicide risk in individuals and the relationships between alcohol use and suicide rates at the population level. The facilitator will suggest how substance abuse prevention professionals can make the case for collaboration with their suicide prevention and substance abuse treatment counterparts to reduce suicide risk in Illinois.
