Botvin’s LifeSkills Training
Tuesday, June 14 - Wednesday, June 15, 2016 - 09:30 AM - 04:30 PM
The Botvin’s LifeSkills training will prepare facilitators to effectively implement the state-of-the-art prevention education activities and teaching strategies found in the LST program. Botvin LifeSkills Training (LST) is a research-validated substance abuse prevention program proven to reduce the risks of alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse, and violence by targeting the major social and psychological factors that promote the initiation of substance use and other risky behaviors. This comprehensive program provides adolescents and young teens with the confidence and skills necessary to successfully handle challenging situations. Participants will be provided with an opportunity to practice teaching selected portions of the Lifeskills curricula. Participants will also become familiar with the theory, research and rationale behind the program and will be taught the skills needed to teach Botvin’s Life skills. In addition, participants will discuss practical implementation issues and become familiar with the curricula.
